Perth, Oct 19 (HS): India managed to put up a modest 136 for nine against Australia in a rain-marred first One-Day International on Sunday.

Persistent showers forced multiple interruptions, reducing the contest to a 26-over-a-side affair. India, invited to bat first, struggled to find momentum and were reeling at 52 for four in 16.4 overs when rain stopped play for the third time.

When play resumed, Australia’s disciplined bowling and overcast conditions made scoring difficult as wickets continued to tumble.
