Tickner Recalled to Blackcaps Squad as Jamieson Sidelined by Injury

HAMILTON, 27 October (H.S.): Fast bowler Blair Tickner has been called into New Zealand’s squad for the remainder of the three-match ODI series against England. The move, announced on Monday, comes after Kyle Jamieson was ruled out with a left-side strain.Tickner, 32, returns to the international stage for the first time since 2023. He has previously played 13 ODIs for New Zealand, taking 16 wickets.

Head Coach Rob Walter endorsed Tickner as a suitable replacement for Jamieson. Blair is an experienced player who is very familiar with international cricket, Walter stated.

He bowls with pace from a height, generating bounce and aggression. In that respect, he can fill Kyle’s role well. The Blackcaps currently lead the series 1-0 after securing a four-wicket victory over England in the first ODI at Bay Oval on Sunday.

A notable performance from England’s Harry Brook was not enough to prevent the New Zealand win. Both teams have now traveled to Hamilton, where the second ODI will be played at Seddon Park on Wednesday, October 29.
