Kathmandu, February 24 (HS): Most of the leftist parties of Nepal have welcomed the stopping of the American Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project. While passing it in the Parliament, Maoists, Unified Socialist and other small communist parties had widely opposed this project.

Maoist President and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has welcomed the stopping of MCC support and said that at that time a situation had arisen when MCC had to be passed. He has blamed the then Prime Minister Shah Bahadur Deuba and the then main opposition party leader KP Sharma Oli for this. Prachanda said that taking the support of 55 million US dollars is wrong. He claims that along with American support, its interference also increases, which was not good for both the neighboring countries of Nepal.

Unified Socialist Party President and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has also clarified that he has always opposed MCC. They argue that this is nothing but an excuse to increase American interference in Nepal under the pretext of MCC and for their army to enter Nepal.

Netra Bahadur Chand of Nepal Communist Party has welcomed this decision of America. He has said that the American President himself has done a very good job by withdrawing it. It is a matter of good fortune for Nepal that USAID and MCC have been stopped to end American imperialism.
