WELLINGTON, 31 October (H.S.): New Zealand has called up uncapped all-rounder Kristian Clarke for the third and final One-Day International against England. Clarke comes into the squad as a replacement for fast bowler Matt Henry, who has been sidelined with a left calf strain.Henry sustained the injury during the second ODI in Hamilton and is set to return to Christchurch on Friday for further assessment.
The call-up marks a significant moment for the 24-year-old Clarke, who has been in impressive form in domestic cricket for Northern Districts. He recently showcased his all-round capabilities in the Ford Trophy, scoring his maiden List A century and recording bowling figures of 3 for 57 in a victory over the Central Stags.
Clarke first gained attention as part of New Zealand’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 World Cup, where he impressed with both bat and ball. He has been a regular for Northern Districts across all formats since 2022 and toured Bangladesh with the New Zealand A team earlier this year.
