London, Feb 13 (HS): Alcohol will not be allowed during the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Ambassador to Britain Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud confirmed this on Wednesday.
In an interview to LBC radio station, he clarified that alcohol will not be sold anywhere in Saudi Arabia. This decision is different from the 2022 Qatar World Cup, where alcohol was available at high prices in special fan areas and five-star hotels.
Prince Khalid said, For the time being, we do not allow alcohol. He further said that Saudi Arabia will host the World Cup while respecting its cultural and religious traditions.
He stressed, Everyone has their own culture. We are ready to accommodate people within the boundaries of our culture, but we do not want to change our culture for anyone else.
The ambassador also clarified that the World Cup is not just a Saudi Arabian event but a global event. We will welcome everyone who wants to be a part of this tournament, he said.
Discussions are already on for Saudi Arabia to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. The event will showcase the culture and traditions of Saudi Arabia along with sports to the world.
