Jammu, Dec 15 (KINS): A deputation of prominent citizens from Jammu led by former Councillor and Chairman of the Swachh Bharat Committee, JMC Jammu, Yash Paul Sharma (Mantoo), on Monday met Rajya Sabha MP and J&K BJP President Sat Sharma at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The deputation submitted a memorandum seeking the establishment of a full-fledged Indoor Stadium at Patoli Magotrian (Patoli Chowk) to promote sports and youth engagement in the area.
Responding to the demand, Sat Sharma assured the deputation of the party’s full sensitivity towards genuine public aspirations, particularly those related to youth welfare and social upliftment.
“The BJP’s politics is rooted in service, dialogue and people-centric development. Proposals aimed at youth engagement, sports promotion and positive social change deserve serious and sympathetic consideration,” Sat Sharma said.
He described the demand for an Indoor Stadium as a forward-looking vision of the local population and assured that the proposal would be examined carefully and taken up with the concerned authorities at the appropriate level, keeping public interest and feasibility in mind.
The deputation informed that during the ‘Public Samvad’ programme organised by JMC at Bharat Mata Park, Patoli Morh, representatives of five adjoining wards had unanimously proposed utilising available JMC land at Patoli Chowk for the project. They said the land, earlier a dried-up natural pond and later prone to dumping and encroachment, has now been properly fenced and is recorded as Banjar Qadeem in revenue records.
They stressed that a centrally located Indoor Stadium, surrounded by 8–10 JMC wards, would provide year-round sports facilities, help curb drug abuse, steer youth away from social evils and benefit lakhs of residents.
Thanking the BJP leadership, Yash Paul Sharma said:
“The BJP has always stood with public causes, especially those related to youth, cleanliness, discipline and social reform. We are hopeful that this proposal will be pursued sincerely in the larger public interest.”
The deputation included Sandesh Dogra, Balbir Singh, Arun Bamzai, Vijay Kumar Khanna, Shashi Bhushan Kotwal, Sanjay Badam, Rajesh Sharma, Uttam Singh Langeh, Rinku Bamotra and others.(KINS)
