FIR Registered Over Landslide Caused by Illegal Quarrying in Baramulla

Srinagar- Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with a landslide incident at Khanpora in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, which has been linked to illegal stone quarrying activities in the area.

According to police, the landslide occurred on December 19, 2025, following unauthorised quarrying that led to a sudden slide of debris and earth. The incident posed a serious threat to human life and raised apprehensions of damage to both public and private property.

In a statement, police said a team immediately rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. The situation was promptly assessed and necessary measures were taken to ensure safety, with authorities confirming that no loss of life was reported.

In this regard, Police Station Baramulla has registered a case vide FIR No. 219/2025 under relevant provisions of law. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact circumstances of the incident and to identify those responsible for the illegal quarrying activities.

Baramulla Police reiterated their commitment to public safety and warned of strict action against individuals or entities found involved in unlawful activities that endanger lives and property.
