Jammu, Jan 01 (KINS): Ramban Police, working closely with the Army, CAPFs, central intelligence agencies and various wings of Jammu and Kashmir Police, successfully maintained peace and security across the district throughout 2025.

Addressing a press conference at the District Police Headquarters, SSP Ramban Arun Gupta presented the Annual Performance Review–2025, stating that preventive policing, intelligence-based operations, effective supervision and community outreach remained key priorities.

He said one released militant was detained under the Public Safety Act, while strict surveillance was maintained on surrendered militants, Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and their associates. Properties measuring 41 kanals and 14 marlas, worth about ₹1.52 crore and belonging to Jammu and Kashmir nationals operating from Pakistan, were attached. Preventive action was also taken against 84 OGWs.

On illegal immigration, SSP Gupta informed that 32 Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals were identified for verification and deportation, with an FIR registered at Police Station Chanderkote. Action was also taken against a hotel in Patnitop for violating Form-C norms, and awareness programmes were held for hoteliers and NGOs.

He said registrations of over two dozen vehicles involved in bovine smuggling were suspended, while more than 300 people were rescued during floods in July and August. To strengthen public trust, 15 Peace Committees were formed and hundreds of community meetings were conducted.

The SSP added that elaborate security arrangements ensured the smooth conduct of major events, including the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, national celebrations and VVIP movements. A total of 789 cases were registered during the year, reflecting sustained efforts to maintain law and order in Ramban district.(KINS)
