Leh, January 01 (KINS): The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh has issued a circular directing all Administrative Secretaries to undertake field visits once every fortnight, preferably with an overnight stay, to gain first-hand knowledge of ground realities and public issues across different regions of the UT.

According to the circular issued by the Office of the Chief Secretary, officers will be required to submit a one-page tour note after each visit. These tour notes will form part of the Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) of the concerned officers, underscoring the administration’s focus on accountability and grassroots governance.

The circular also expressed concern over officers undertaking prolonged tours to Delhi and other places outside Ladakh. Such extended absences, it said, are not acceptable, and officers have been advised to ensure minimum absence from their stations.

Emphasising the need for better public engagement, the administration noted that accessibility of officers to the general public must improve. All Administrative Secretaries and field officers have been instructed to remain responsive and accessible to the people.

The circular, issued under the signature of Chief Secretary UT Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, IAS, has been circulated to all Administrative Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners of Leh and Kargil, Heads of Departments, and other senior officers for strict compliance.(KINS)
