NC did not interfere in street vendors’ elections, says Shahid Ali Shah

Baramulla, Jan 07 (KINS): National Conference (NC) Baramulla President Advocate Shahid Ali Shah said that the party has not interfered in the election process of street vendors.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) Shahid said street vendors are a respectable part of society and play a vital role in strengthening the local economy. He said the National Conference stands with street vendors and supports their right to earn a livelihood with dignity.
Referring to a recent dispute, Shahid said that some issues arose between street vendors and certain individuals, following which the matter was taken to court.
He said some vendors engaged Advocate Nilofar, who is also associated with the NC.
However, he clarified that within the court premises she is acting purely in her professional capacity as an advocate and not as a party functionary.
He further said that the court has passed interim directions in the matter and since the case is sub judice, it would not be appropriate to comment further.
Reiterating the party’s stand, the NC Baramulla president said there has been no political interference in the street vendors’ election process
Shahid also spoke about developmental works in the constituency, stating that MLA Javaid Beigh has successfully completed several projects, while some others are still underway and will be completed soon.
He said Baramulla will soon get a multi-layer car parking facility. He also added that macadamisation work has been carried out in several areas of the town and the remaining areas will be covered during the current year. (KINS)
