
Kathmandu, 07 February (HS): Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana has intensified diplomatic efforts for the release of Nepali youth Vipin Joshi from Hamas’s custody. She has sought help from Iran. Even after 15 days of the start of the process of releasing the hostages, the Nepali youth has not been released.
Foreign Minister Rana spoke to Iran’s Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi on telephone this morning. Rana said that he has requested the Iranian Foreign Minister for the release of Nepali youth Vipin Joshi. Iran’s Foreign Minister has assured him that the next time he talks with Hamas leaders, he will raise this issue on priority.
Foreign Minister Rana had a telephone conversation with the Foreign Ministers of Israel, Egypt and Qatar in this regard in November and December last year and requested for the release of Vipin Joshi.
On the day Hamas attacked Israel, about 12 Nepali citizens were killed and many Nepali citizens were kidnapped. Most of the Nepali citizens killed were students. So far hundreds of Nepali citizens have been brought safely to Nepal.
