Light to moderate rain likely across J&K till August 7





Srinagar, July 30 (KINS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast intermittent rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir over the next several days, with a warning of heavy rain and the possibility of flash floods and landslides in parts of the Jammu division.
According to the forecast, on July 30 and 31, most places across the Union Territory are likely to witness one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers, mainly during the afternoon, evening, and early morning hours. A few areas of the Jammu division may experience brief but intense heavy showers or torrential rain.
On August 1, scattered places are expected to receive light rain or brief thundershowers, with isolated intense showers.
From August 2 to 4, many places are likely to witness a few spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers, particularly during the afternoon, evening, and early morning hours. The MET Centre has warned that a few districts of the Jammu division could receive heavy rain and brief spells of torrential rainfall during this period.
Between August 5 and 7, scattered places are expected to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers, with the possibility of brief intense showers.
The MET Centre has advised people to remain cautious as heavy rain and intense showers are likely in a few districts of the Jammu division on July 30, 31 and August 2 and 3. It warned that torrential rainfall could trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones at vulnerable locations.
Residents, tourists, and commuters have been urged to stay updated with weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel to flood- or landslide-prone areas during periods of intense rainfall.(KINS)
