Agra,
01 March (HS): The death of Manav Sharma, an IT business employee from Agra who
reportedly committed himself over marital discord, has sparked a wave of
anxiety across India. Sharma’s sister
said that a phone call implied his wife caused his grief, preventing him from
dealing with divorce procedures.
Sharma’s sister first believed that emotional anguish caused his
suicide. However, information from his
phone suggests that his wife’s provocation played a key part, as she vigorously
opposed divorce. She stressed the need
for legal involvement to prevent similar tragedies. Sharma’s father filed a FIR after his son
broadcast a live video blaming his wife for his approaching death. Suraj Rai, DCP, acknowledged that the complaint
was started after a video surfaced on social media, promising an inquiry into
all charges and any required legal action.
