Srinagar, Oct 28 (KNS); Kashmir’s Qurat Choorisaz has become the first player from the Valley to be shortlisted for the pre-selection camp of the Indian team ahead of the second Junior Roll Ball World Cup, scheduled to be held in Madhya Pradesh in December.
Qurat has been selected in the girls’ category for the national camp, which will be held in Bengaluru from November 10 to 15, according to the list released by the Roll Ball Federation of India.
The final Indian squad for the tournament will be selected based on the players’ performance during the camp. Attendance has been made mandatory for all shortlisted players.
Qurat’s selection for the camp marks a milestone for Kashmir’s sporting community, as she becomes the first player from the region to reach this stage of the national selection process for the junior world event.
However, her participation in the World Cup will depend on her performance at the camp and her subsequent selection to the final Indian squad.
The development highlights the growing participation of young athletes from Kashmir in sporting disciplines beyond the region’s traditional favourites, with Qurat now in contention for a place in the national team. (KNS)
