New Delhi, March 7 (HS): India has reiterated that safety of life and property of Hindu community and other minorities in Bangladesh is the responsibility of the interim government there. It is the responsibility of the neighboring country to protect the life and property and religious institutions of the minorities.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a press briefing on Friday that 2374 incidents have taken place in Bangladesh since August 5 last year, out of which the police have investigated only 1254. In the police investigation, 98 percent of the 1254 incidents have been described as political in nature. The spokesperson said that we expect the Bangladesh government to investigate all the incidents thoroughly and take action against those responsible for incidents of murder, arson and violence.
The spokesperson said about bilateral cooperation that this is a priority area for us. The implementation of development projects has been hampered due to the security situation and local old issues in the neighboring country. Talks are going on between both the sides to complete these projects in a time bound manner. Our endeavour is to take the work forward after getting necessary cooperation and permission from Bangladesh regarding the projects.
