Guwahati, 08 March (HS): In view of the spirit of unity and patriotism, “Seemant Krida Mahotsav” 25 will be organized on 08, 09, and 10 of April at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Sarusajai, Guwahati by making players participate in two groups of sub-junior (14 years to 17 years) and junior (17 years to 20 years) located within 20 kilometers adjacent to the border areas of Assam. This tournament has been organized in nine districts along the international border of Assam from 21 December 2024 to 30 January 2025, in which about six thousand athletes participated. 650 athletes were selected through qualifying events (100m, 200m, 800m, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, javelin throw, relay race, marathon race etc.).

Seemant Jagran Manch was established in Jodhpur, Rajasthan in 1985 with the objective of promoting educational, social, cultural and economic development of the people living in the international border areas and to awaken and increase the spirit of patriotism and nationalism in their minds. After this, Seemant Chetna Manch North East was born in 2008 in Dhubri district to increase the self-reliance and courage of the youth through various activities like sports, satsang, awareness meetings, pre-employment training, skill development schemes etc. in the villages of the border areas of Assam and since then it is leading in playing an important role and serving in various constructive aspects of the border area.

Assimilating the basic mantra of security, self-reliance and unity, Seemant Chetna Manch is working in the interest of the border residents of Northeast. Organizing Seemant Krida Mahotsav is an important initiative under the prescribed annual agenda. Keeping in mind the spirit of character and personality development through sports and nation building through personality development, this platform is continuously making efforts to highlight the sports talent of young men and women.
