
Imphal, 08 March (HS): Bus services resumed on major routes in Manipur from Saturday after two years. Buses left from Imphal to Senapati district via Kangpokpi and from Imphal to Churachandpur district via Bishnupur today.
Buses left from Imphal Airport at 9 am. With this, free movement of people was also restored across the state. This decision was taken after the instructions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Chief Secretary PK Singh said in a statement issued here today that these buses will operate under the protection of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). The government described it as a step towards removing the inconvenience of the public and restoring normalcy in the state.
The government has warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who obstruct bus services.
Bus services started include Imphal – Kangpokpi – Senapati, Senapati – Kangpokpi – Imphal, Imphal – Bishnupur – Churachandpur and Churachandpur – Bishnupur – Imphal.
Helicopter services will start in the state from March 12.
People can use the Manipur Helicopter Service on Wednesday from Imphal – Churachandpur (11:20 am to 3:50 pm) and on Saturday from Imphal – Churachandpur, Imphal – Ukhrul (10:00 am to 3:00 pm).
