KKR appoint Otis Gibson as Assistant Coach

Kolkata Knight Riders appoint Ottis Gibson as Assistant Coach

Kolkata, March 09 (HS): Ahead of the upcoming 2025 Tata Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has appointed experienced coach Ottis Gibson as their coach assistant. With the company of Ginns, KKR has further strengthened its coaching staff.

Ottis Gibson, who hails from Barbados, is a former team member who has taken more than 650 wickets in his first-class cricket tournament. He participated in Test and Proven Cricket between the West Indies cricket team from 1995 to 1999. After his cricket career, Gibson stepped into coaching and achieved great success in this field as well.

Gibson has extensive coaching experience. He has twice coached the England cricket team – first from 2007 to 2010 and then from 2015 to 2017. Apart from this, he was also the head coach of the West Indies team from 2010 to 2014. During his tenure, West Indies won their first ICC World T20 title in Sri Lanka in 2012.

Gibson was the head coach of the South Africa cricket team from 2017 to 2019. After this, he took up coaching roles with different T20 franchise teams and further developed the players of his order in this format.

Gibson will join KKR’s already strong coaching staff, which already has head coach Chandrakant Pandit, spin-bowl coach Bharat Arun, spin-bowl coach Carl Crowe and coach Dwayne Bravo. His Facebook team is expected to benefit especially in the department.
