Raipur, March 11 (H.S.): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Chaitanya, son of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, for questioning related to the liquor scam case, scheduled for March 15.
Recent ED raids occurred at Bhupesh Baghel’s residence and 14 other locations across Chhattisgarh, including properties in Bhilai and Raipur.
Multiple documents were examined during these searches, and Chaitanya was interrogated on-site. The ED’s investigation suggests that Chaitanya Baghel may be a beneficiary of a scam estimated to involve around ₹2161 crores.
Key items seized during the operation include critical documents, along with six mobile phones and SIM cards, specifically from associates of Baghel, such as Lakshmi Narayan Bansal. The ED is currently analyzing conversations from the confiscated mobile devices. These efforts are part of broader actions taken under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) related to the ongoing investigation.
