AAP out of power in Delhi, but party MP demands full statehood

AAP MP Sanjay Singh

NEW DELHI, 13 March (H.S.) : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called upon the BJP-led double engine government to confer full statehood status upon Delhi, which would include granting rights over services.

The Aam Aadmi Party has called upon the BJP-led government to confer full statehood status upon Delhi, including authority over services. AAP Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh stated that the BJP intends to withdraw the ongoing case in the Supreme Court concerning service rights, which he described as a significant betrayal of the people of Delhi. He noted that several BJP leaders, including LK Advani, have previously supported the idea of granting full statehood to Delhi.

He stated that the government elected in Delhi ought to have control over services. The Aam Aadmi Party-led government in Delhi submitted a petition to the Supreme Court advocating for this demand. If the Delhi government is granted the authority to transfer and assign officers, it will enhance the convenience for the residents of Delhi in obtaining services.

He stated that the BJP, which once championed the cause of services, is now abandoning that very struggle. Prominent BJP leaders such as Madan Lal Khurana, Sahib Singh Verma, and Lal Krishna Advani had all supported and fought for the full statehood of Delhi.

AAP MP, Sanjay Singh said that the BJP ought to grant full statehood to Delhi and manage its administration effectively. It is regrettable that the BJP is retracting the case regarding services that is currently before the court.
