World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2025: India tops medal tally

New Delhi, March 14 (H.S.) India achieved a remarkable performance at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2025, winning a total of 134 medals (45 gold, 40 silver, and 49 bronze) to secure the first position in the medal tally. In this prestigious competition, Indian athletes showcased their strength, depth, and determination through outstanding performances in track and field events.

Key results from the final day of the competition:

Women’s 200 meters T35–T38: Australia’s Rhiannon Clark won gold, while neutral para athletes’ Margarita Goncharova claimed silver and India’s Preethi Pal won the bronze medal.

Women’s Long Jump T38, T44, T61: Australian star athlete Vanessa Low jumped 4.96 meters to win the gold medal. Zhanana Fekolina won silver, while India’s Bhavani Muniyandi secured the bronze medal with a jump of 3.51 meters.

Men’s Shot Put F40–F41: Neutral para athlete Denis Gnezdilov won gold, Aiyal Sivtsev took silver, and India’s Ravi Rangoli secured the bronze medal.

Men’s 200 meters T35: Neutral para athlete Dmitrii Safronov won gold in 24.20 seconds, while India’s Vinay (29.58 seconds) won silver and Abhishek Babasaheb Jadhav (31.55 seconds) claimed bronze.

Men’s 200 meters T37: Neutral para athletes swept the podium by winning gold, silver, and bronze in this event.

Men’s Shot Put F11–F20: India’s Sagar won the gold medal with a throw of 11.47 meters, while Janka Singh (9.91 meters) took silver and Balaji Rajendran (9.89 meters) secured the bronze medal.

Women’s Long Jump T20–T37: Irina Sapanzha (5.35 meters) won gold, Valentina (5.16 meters) won silver, and India’s Bhumi Agarwal (4.16 meters) won the bronze medal.

Men’s Shot Put F33–F34: Uzbekistan’s Sarvarbek and Hussein won gold and bronze respectively, while India’s Devarshi secured the silver medal.

Men’s 200 meters T44: India’s Meet Bharatbhai Patel won the silver medal in 26.68 seconds, while Ankur won the silver medal in his category with a time of 31.23 seconds.

Men’s 200 meters T61–T64: Japan’s Yuma Tamaki won the gold medal in 24.16 seconds, while India’s Pranav Prashant (24.75 seconds) secured the silver and Naresh won the bronze medal.

Women’s Discus Throw F56–F57: India’s Fatima, Suman Bala, and Asha Jalandhar achieved a clean sweep by winning gold, silver, and bronze respectively.

Men’s Shot Put F35–F37: Uzbekistan’s Kudratillo Khon (14.89 meters) won gold, Alan Kokoyti (14.68 meters) won silver, and Neutral Para Athletes’ Albert won the bronze medal.

Men’s 5000 meters T11–T12: India achieved another clean sweep with Sharath (gold), Saurabh (silver), and Ankur (bronze) all standing on the podium.

This remarkable achievement by India not only secured them the top position in the medal table but also proved that the country is emerging as a global power in para athletics. The presence of legendary international athletes like Vanessa Low and the impressive performances of India’s young para athletes turned this Grand Prix into a celebration of inclusivity, determination, and sporting excellence.
