New Delhi, 14 March (H.S.): In response to Pakistan’s claims of India’s involvement in the recent train hijacking in Balochistan, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) dismissed these allegations as ‘baseless’ and suggested Pakistan focus on its internal issues.
During a press briefing, Pakistan’s foreign office spokesperson, Shafqat Ali Khan, presented evidence of calls traced to Afghanistan linked to the incident and insisted there was no change in Pakistan’s stance regarding India’s alleged role in terrorism.
Following the attack on the train that resulted in numerous casualties, including 21 passengers and 33 militants from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Pakistani military and government officials have subtly implicated India, ignoring their own security failures.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized India’s rejection of the accusations, highlighting the global recognition of Pakistan as a center for terrorism. Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s foreign ministry also refuted Pakistan’s claims, urging them to address their own security issues instead of making unfounded accusations.
The ongoing Balochistan insurgency, tied to local grievances, further strains already tense Indo-Pakistani relations, exacerbated since the 2019 Pulwama attack.
