Global market shows significant decline, Asian markets drop

Signs of strength from global markets, buying trend in Asian markets too

New Delhi, April 07 (H.S.): Global trade war fears have caused market chaos, with strong signs of weakness emerging worldwide today.The U.S. markets closed with significant declines during the last trading session. Dow Jones futures also appear to be trading with substantial weakness today. European markets recorded declines of up to 5 percent during the last session. The atmosphere in the Asian market today is similarly one of widespread turmoil.

The impact of America’s new tariff policy is expected to continue causing disturbances in stock markets worldwide in the coming days. During the last trading session, there was widespread selling in the U.S. market. The pressure from selling can be gauged by the fact that investors in the U.S. have already lost $5 trillion in just two days of trading. During the last session, the S&P 500 index closed down by 322.44 points, or 5.97 percent, at a level of 5,074.08 points. Similarly, the Nasdaq ended the last session of trading with a decline of 948.58 points, or 5.73 percent, at a level of 15,602.03 points. Dow Jones futures are currently trading down by 1,021.62 points, or 2.67 percent, at a level of 37,293.24 points.

Just like in the U.S., European markets also experienced continuous pressure during the last session. The FTSE index slipped by 419.76 points, or 5.21 percent, closing at 8,054.98 points. Likewise, the CAC index ended the last session with a decline of 324.03 points, or 4.45 percent, at a level of 7,274.95 points. Additionally, the DAX index closed down significantly by 1,075.67 points, or 5.21 percent, at a level of 20,641.72 points.

The atmosphere in the Asian markets is also one of disappointment today. Out of 9 markets in Asia, 7 indices are trading with a decline. Due to holidays in the stock exchanges of Thailand and Indonesia, there has been no change in the SET Composite Index and the Jakarta Composite Index today.

The GIFT Nifty is currently trading at a level of 22,122 points, down by 837 points or 3.65 percent. Similarly, the KOSPI index has dropped by 117.69 points or 4.77 percent, reaching a level of 2,347.73 points. The Hang Seng Index has seen a significant decline today. Currently, this index has fallen by 2,437.82 points or 10.67 percent to a level of 20,411.99 points. Likewise, the Taiwan Weighted Index is down by 2,069.64 points or 9.72 percent, reaching a level of 19,228.58 points. Additionally, the Straits Times Index has fallen by 302.73 points or 7.91 percent to a level of 3,523.13 points, the Shanghai Composite Index has slipped by 211.84 points or 6.77 percent to a level of 3,130.17 points, and the Nikkei Index is trading at a level of 31,684.23 points, down by 2,096.35 points or 6.21 percent.
