Kolkata, 7 April (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced her next steps after the Supreme Court’s decision at a conference of deprived teachers. She highlighted several parts of the decision in that context. The Chief Minister also raised some questions before the Supreme Court. BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the country alleging that those comments and questions have insulted the judiciary. The BJP MP from Purulia has requested to register a suo motu case for Mamata Banerjee’s remarks on the judiciary. Apart from this, he said said that the financial sources of the state fund should also be investigated.
Addressing the rally at Netaji Indoor on Monday, the Chief Minister said, I was doing a case study (data of deprived teachers). The Supreme Court has not yet been able to say who is eligible and who is not eligible. It does not have the power to give jobs. It cannot take jobs. We need to understand the difference between a face and a mask. After that, the Chief Minister said, I was taking out a procession in Durgapur during the 2024 elections. We appealed to the Supreme Court to stay the High Court’s decision. Justice Chandrachud did so. The second Chief Justice came. He cancelled the panel without seeing who is qualified or ineligible! Is there any game behind this decision? The Board of Secondary Education has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding that unemployed ‘qualified’ teachers be allowed to work until new appointments are made.
After these comments of the Chief Minister, the BJP MP from Purulia wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of the country, Sanjeev Khanna. In the letter, he alleged that the Chief Minister is questioning the judiciary to hide education corruption and save ‘incompetent’ people, which is not desirable at all. The MP has submitted a three-point petition to the Supreme Court, requesting the apex court to take suo motu cognizance and take action. Apart from this, he said that the Supreme Court should also investigate where the money is coming from in the state treasury. He also demanded that those who constantly attack the judiciary should be given appropriate punishment. Along with this, Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato further alleged that Trinamool public representatives often make objectionable remarks about judges and the judiciary. The Purulia MP drew the attention of the Supreme Court to give them appropriate punishment.
