New Delhi, April 12 (H.S.): Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi met with fashion and textile sector workers, sharing insights about his conversations with Vicky, a young entrepreneur thriving in the industry. He noted that Vicky’s workers endure 12-hour shifts, showcasing remarkable skills that remain undervalued.
In his post on X, Gandhi lamented the lack of representation for the OBC community in textile design, stating that marginalized groups face barriers in education and access within the sector. He discussed the history of the Nehru jacket, crafted by his great-grandfather’s tailor, emphasizing the connections between tradition and innovation.
Gandhi drew parallels between the struggles of talented youth and the epic character Abhimanyu from the Mahabharata, expressing his commitment to dismantling barriers for skilled individuals. His advocacy extends to other sectors as well; he previously highlighted the challenges faced by porters at New Delhi railway station, advocating for their rights and demands for Group D jobs. Gandhi also engaged with students from Nagaland, warning about India’s need to embrace emerging technologies, and stressing the importance of revamping the education system to prepare young Indians for future challenges—underscoring the urgency for change in outdated policies.
