Inter Miami held to goalless draw against Chicago Fire

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez

Chicago, April 14 (H.S.): The match between Inter Miami and Chicago Fire in the American Major League Soccer (MLS) on Sunday ended in a goalless draw. Lionel Messi spent the full 90 minutes on the field and created several exciting opportunities but could not lead the team to victory. Both teams’ goalkeepers delivered exceptional performances, achieving a clean sheet for the first time this season.

Messi’s two brilliant attempts, but luck was not on his side

In this match, Lionel Messi made a concerted effort to score in the 64th and 85th minutes. Firstly, Messi’s fantastic shot was saved by Chicago’s goalkeeper Chris Brady with the help of the crossbar, and in the second attempt, the ball also hit the crossbar and went out. Messi had also provided a brilliant pass to Luis Suárez, but it was ruled offside.

After a remarkable comeback against LAFC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-finals, Inter Miami had to settle for a draw in their second consecutive MLS match. This was the first time this season that Inter Miami failed to score in an MLS match.

For Chicago Fire, this was their first clean sheet of the season. The team had suffered two draws and one loss in the last three matches. In this game as well, Chicago created some excellent chances in the final minutes, but Inter Miami’s goalkeeper Oscar Ustari made outstanding saves to keep the team from defeat.

The game was slow in the first half, but both teams displayed aggressive play in the final minutes of the second half. Chicago’s Jonathan Bamba and Maren Haile-Selassie also attempted to score, but luck and Inter Miami’s defense did not give them success.
