Kolkata, 14 April (H.S.) -The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for several districts of West Bengal, forecasting thunderstorms, rain, and gusty winds from Monday through April 18. The adverse weather is attributed to increased moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal and favourable wind patterns.
According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation has formed over Bangladesh and adjoining areas in the upper atmosphere, triggering instability across the region. As a result, parts of South Bengal are likely to witness lightning, light to moderate rain, and strong winds at isolated locations.
Districts including Purulia, Birbhum, Murshidabad, East and West Bardhaman, and Nadia are expected to experience relatively intense weather conditions, with higher wind speeds and a greater likelihood of thunderstorm activity.
The IMD has also predicted similar conditions in parts of North Bengal, where isolated thunderstorms accompanied by rain and strong winds are expected to persist until April 17.
Residents across the affected regions have been advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions during this period of unstable weather.
