
Hooghly, 14 April (H.S.): The brutal murder of Sanjay Rajbangshi (27) in Loharpara area of Hooghly has created tension in the area. Allegedly, Sanjay was murdered with a sharp weapon late on Sunday night. Sanjay’s body was sent for post-mortem on Monday.
Notably, Sanjay was in jail for burning a beggar in the year 2019 and was living in Ayodhya after his release. Recently, he returned to Hooghly and started driving a Toto. Hearing the noise at around 1 am, the family found him bleeding and took him to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
The police took immediate action and cordoned off the spot and started investigation. Bandel police outpost in-charge Tamal Mohanty, DC Chandannagar Alaknanda Bhawal, and IC Rameshwar Ojha reached the spot. The police suspect that the murder may be the result of an old rivalry. According to local sources, a Hanuman puja ceremony was going on in the area that night, and the incident took place about 100 meters away from the ceremony venue. Sanjay’s family has demanded strict punishment for the culprit. The police have set up police pickets in the area and the search for the killer is on.
