Lucknow,
07 May (HS): Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), hailed the
Indian military’s raids on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied
Kashmir (PoK), saying the struggle against terrorism is a protracted one that
must target the roots rather than the branches.
India
launched Operation Sindoor as a robust response to The Resistance Front’s
terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which murdered 26
people, including a Nepalese citizen. Speaking to media at the party
headquarters here, Yadav repeated his party’s support for decisive action
against terrorism, remembering the SP’s position at the all-party meeting in
Delhi following the Pahalgam terrorist assault.
Yadav
claimed that the Samajwadi Party made it clear at an all-party meeting that it
will support the government in any action required in this subject. When the
root of terrorism is assaulted, the branches die on their own. This is a lengthy war, and we must be
attentive on border security. He stated
that no lapse is acceptable. He voiced great trust in the Indian Armed
personnel, stating, We fully trust our Army and security forces. Yadav
highlighted that India must take a more proactive posture in the global war
against terrorism, pointing out that the entire globe is battling
terrorism. India must do so with even
greater determination.
Commenting
on the approaching all-party conference, he stated that SP’s national principal
general secretary, Ram Gopal Yadav, will represent the party and deliver its
recommendations.
Yadav
criticized the Centre’s Agnipath recruiting plan, stating that certain
individuals had previously stated that contemporary battles did not require
conventional military forces, which led to the introduction of transitory
schemes such as Agniveer. Now those same
folks are returning to traditional methods.
This discrepancy should be addressed. He questioned the long-term
feasibility of such tactics, advocating for a more steady and strategic
approach to national security.
