
Jeddah, April 30 (H.S.): In the elite semifinals of the AFC Champions League, Al-Ahli secured a spot in the final by defeating Al-Hilal 3-1 in a match played in Jeddah on Tuesday. With this victory, Al-Ahli is just one step away from their first Asian title.
From the start of the match, Al-Ahli showcased aggressive play. In the 9th minute, Brazilian winger Galeano delivered a superb cross from Roger Ibanez, which Roberto Firmino converted into a goal from six yards. In the 27th minute, Ivan Tony scored the second goal from a pass by Riyad Mahrez. Although initially ruled offside, the goal was confirmed after a VAR review.
In the closing moments of the first half, Salem Al-Dawsari capitalized on an opportunity to reduce the score to 2-1. However, in the second half, Al-Hilal faced a major setback when Kalidou Koulibaly received a second yellow card in the 60th minute, leaving the team with 10 players.
Al-Ahli made a continuous effort for a third goal and was awarded a penalty in the 85th minute, but Yassine Bounou saved Frank Kessie’s kick. However, in injury time, Feras Al-Breekan scored the third goal, solidifying the team’s victory and prompting the home crowd to celebrate joyfully.

Now, Al-Ahli will face either fellow Saudi club Al-Nassr or Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale in the final on Saturday, who will play the second semifinal on Wednesday.
