Portrush(Northern Ireland), July 21(HS): Scottie Scheffler won his first British Open at Royal Portrush Golf Club, finishing four strokes ahead of Harris English. Celebrating with his wife and son after sinking a final putt for par, the 29-year-old from Dallas posted a score of 68 in the fourth round, totaling -17 for the tournament and a final score of 267.
Scheffler, the Champion Golfer of the Year, is now one of only four players to win The Open, the Masters, and the PGA Championship before turning 30, alongside Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Tiger Woods. This victory marks Scheffler’s second major win of 2025, following his success at the PGA Championship earlier in the year. With 11 PGA tour wins since 2024, he is solidifying his impressive career.
The triumph at The Open leaves Scheffler one major away from achieving the Grand Slam, which includes The Masters, the U.S. Open, the British Open, and the PGA Championship. He will aim for this milestone at the 2026 U.S. Open, coinciding with his 30th birthday.
