New Delhi, February 24 (HS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday interacted with the youth of Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi under the program ‘Watan Ko Jaano’. During this, he described peace as essential for development and said that the responsibility of making peace permanent in Jammu and Kashmir rests on the shoulders of the young generation.
While interacting with 200 school students from Jammu and Kashmir under the program ‘Watan Ko Jaano’, Amit Shah said that development can come only when there is peace. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the youth to explain to their parents and the people of the locality on returning to Jammu and Kashmir that the whole country is living in peace and we also have to live in peace.
He told the children that the whole country along with Jammu and Kashmir is yours, go back with this feeling. Peace and tranquility is the most important. Describing the children of Jammu and Kashmir as the real carriers of peace, he said that no government can maintain peace there. He said that if every child of Jammu and Kashmir makes his parents and neighbours understand that the entire country is ours. We have to live in peace with everyone. If terrorism is to be eradicated from here, then there will be no need for police and army. He said that the day is not far when no youth of Jammu and Kashmir will have a weapon in his hand. If this happens, there will be no need for an armed army. The army is on the border everywhere, the army will go to the border from your place too.
He said that terrorism and terror do not benefit anyone. Thousands of people have died in Kashmir in the last 30 years, 38 thousand people. Now the death of civilians has decreased by 80 percent. However, he stressed on making this figure 100 percent. He said that not even a single youth of Jammu and Kashmir should die in terrorist incidents.
Shah said that the children of Jammu and Kashmir have gathered here to participate in ‘Watan ko Jaano’. This program has been organized because it is also important to know about other things. If we do not think outside our room, we will not know what is happening outside.
The Union Home Minister said that for a very long time there was a lot of chaos in Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi united the whole country by abolishing Article 370. Now Kashmir is just like the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Haryana. Now the children of Kashmir have as much right on the country as the children of Delhi. Shah asked the youth whether it is right or wrong.
Shah said that earlier it was taught that Kashmir is ours and we have a right on it. He said that if you are born there, then it is yours but along with this you should also have a right on 29 other princely states. He asked the youth whether it is right or not.
Shah said that for the last 10 years we have been working to take the country to the top in the world. Referring to the preference given to foreign countries for studies, Shah said that after 10 years this country will become such that children from countries across the world will come to India for education. He said that this will also benefit the children here. He said that earlier in Kashmir drinking water never came from taps but now 80 percent of the houses there are getting tap water.
Shah said that in the last 10 years the world’s tallest railway arch bridge has been built. Apart from this, Asia’s largest tunnel, the only cable bridge, two AIIMS hospitals, two IIMs, 24 big colleges and 8 universities have been built. He said that all these things did not happen in Jammu and Kashmir till now, because stone pelting, bomb blasts and terrorism stopped and schools opened for full time.
