Andhra youth drowns in Nagavali river near Rayagada

Bhubaneswar, 14 March (H.S.)An 18-year-old youth from Andhra Pradesh tragically drowned while bathing in the Nagavali River near Mariguda, close to Rayagada town, on Friday.

Sai Krishna, who had visited the Maa Majhighariani temple with his family, was swept away by the strong current of the river while taking a dip near the hanging bridge. Despite a swift response from the police and fire department, who launched a rescue operation, they were only able to recover his body.

This incident adds to a growing list of similar tragedies at the hanging bridge, where tourists have repeatedly fallen victim while enjoying the scenic beauty of the Nagavali River. Many of these fatalities have occurred while people were taking selfies.

Despite multiple warnings from local authorities, tourists continue to ignore safety guidelines, putting their lives at risk. This is not the first such incident, as just days ago, two students from a local private school lost their lives under similar circumstances.
