
Barpeta (Assam), 5 May (HS): A youth has been arrested from Barpeta district of Assam on charges of making anti-national remarks. The arrested youth has been identified as Sahidul Islam, a resident of Mandia Pathar village of Baghbor police station area. It is noteworthy that so far 41 people have been arrested across the state for posting anti-India posts on social media.
According to the police, Sahidul Islam had posted anti-national and provocative posts on social media like Pakistan Zindabad, I love Pakistan, fewer people were killed in Kashmir, more should have been killed. Apart from this, he also shared slogans like Himanta Biswa Sarma Murdabad and Pakistan Zindabad on social media.
The state government has warned of strict action against anti-national comments on social media, despite this some people are still posting pro-Pakistan and communal posts. Barpeta Superintendent of Police Susanta Biswa Sarma said Sahidul Islam has been arrested and the investigation into the case is underway.
