Damascus, 07 February (HS): Two people were injured in an armed attack on a security patrol in the western Syrian city of Latakia. A member of the Public Security Department is also among those injured in this attack on Thursday. Some loyalists of Syria’s ousted President Bashar al-Assad regime are carrying out ambushes.

According to the Arabic news website 963+, Mustafa Kanifati, director of the Public Security Department in Latakia Governorate, confirmed this. Director Mustafa Kanifati said that the attackers are being searched for. Earlier this month, three members of the General Security Department of the Interior Ministry were killed in an attack in the Latakia countryside. Last Friday, the Public Security Department succeeded in arresting Brigadier General Atef Najib, former head of the political security branch in Daraa. Najib is guilty of mass murder during the rebellion in Syria. Atef was hiding in the city of Jabaleh.
