Assam Sahitya Sabha welcomes the cabinet decision to use Assamese in govt offices

Darang (Assam), 05 April (HS): Assam Sahitya Sabha has expressed happiness over the cabinet decision of the Assam government to make the use of Assamese language compulsory in all government offices from Pratham Bohag (Assamese New Year).

Darang District Assam Sahitya Sabha welcomed this decision and said that this step will strengthen the linguistic dignity and cultural identity of the state. According to the new decision, it will be mandatory to use Assamese language along with English in government offices from Pratham Bohag.

Sahitya Sabha praised this decision of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma and also demanded that apart from government offices, it should be made mandatory to put up nameplates (signboards) in Assamese language in commercial institutions as well.

The Sabha called it a historic and important step towards the promotion and preservation of Assamese language.
