06 March (HS): Uttar Pradesh Director
General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar said that Babbar Khalsa’s suspected
terrorist Lazar Masih was preparing to commit a major crime in Maha Kumbh.
During interrogation after his arrest, Lazar told that he was in touch with
three ISI agents based in Pakistan. After committing the crime, the suspected
terrorist Lazar was planning to go to Portugal. Some of his associates live in
Portugal. Before his arrest in Kaushambi, he was hiding in Lucknow and Kanpur.
The
Director General of Police told at the Police Headquarters on Thursday that
under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, zero tolerance is being
followed towards crime and criminals. Before the Maha Kumbh, the UP Police had
received information about disturbances by some people sitting in the country
and abroad. In this sequence, Uttar Pradesh STF has got an important success
last night. This action was taken in a joint operation of UP STF and Punjab
Police. Information was received from the Punjab Police about Lazar who had
made fake Aadhar cards from Ghaziabad.

Kumar said that terrorist Lazar had gone to Punjab jail for heroin smuggling.
The terrorist was admitted to the hospital after being injured in a fight in
the jail. He escaped from there on 24 September 2024. After coming in contact
with Babbar Khalsa on 23 October 2024, he committed a murder and since then he
was living in hiding. Due to the deployment of policemen at every nook and
corner of the UP Police during Maha Kumbh, terrorist Lazar could not succeed in
his intention of committing a major incident.
He
informed that in a joint operation of UP STF and Punjab Police, a terrorist
belonging to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) has been arrested from Kaushambi
district. Lazar Masih, is a resident of Kurliyan village of Ramdas area of
Amritsar, Punjab. Lazar Masih was arrested from Kokhraj area of Kaushambi
district on Thursday morning. The STF recovered three hand grenades, two
detonators, a foreign pistol Norinco M-54 Tokarev (USSR) along with 13
foreign-made cartridges from the suspected terrorist.
