
Dhaka, 13 February (HS): Preparations are going on for the 13th parliamentary election in Bangladesh at this time. Bangladesh Nationalist Party has intensified its preparations after the government’s assurance of holding elections by December. The Election Commission has demanded about 5,921 crore taka from the interim government to conduct parliamentary elections and local body elections. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has said that necessary election reforms are very necessary in the country. The next parliamentary and local body elections in the country should be held only after this.
According to the news of Dhaka Tribune newspaper, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami General Secretary Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has said that no election should be held in the country without necessary election reforms. Parwar along with the delegation met Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasiruddin and other officials at the Election Bhavan today. Prof. Mia then said in a press conference, We have clearly told the Election Commission that no election should be held in the country without reform. The Jamaat leader said that reform is necessary to conduct free and fair elections.
The Bangladesh Election Commission has demanded about 5,921 crore taka from the interim government of the country to conduct the 13th parliamentary elections and various other local body elections. Additional Secretary of the Commission KM Ali Nawaz says that about 2,800 crore taka is estimated to be spent on the parliamentary elections alone. On the other hand, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party has intensified its preparations after the government’s assurance to hold elections by December. The party has demanded from the interim government to announce the election roadmap soon. The party has said that if the interim government does not announce the roadmap, then a front will be opened by organizing rallies in 67 organizational districts. On Monday also, three leaders of the party had met the country’s chief advisor Prof. Mohammad Yunus in this regard.
