Bangladeshis trying to infiltrate India via Nepal, planning to enter on tourist visa

Lucknow,

30 March (HS): Political turmoil! Fear of instability! Dilemma between the

ruling party and the royalists… Nepal is at a crossroads right now. This

change is visible on the India-Nepal border as well, but in a changed form. The

story here is different. Amidst the political turmoil, Bangladeshis are trying

to infiltrate into India by reaching Nepal on tourist visa. An alert has been

issued on the border from Madhesh to Uttarakhand considering their activities

suspicious. The SSB has increased vigilance. Surendra Mahato of Nawalparasi

district says that the country is entangled in internal issues. Bangladeshis

are taking advantage of this. The activities taking place in the border area in

recent times do not seem right.

Suspicious

activities have increased in these districts: Suspicious activities have also

increased in the Nepali areas adjoining Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur,

Bahraich, Shravasti, Pilibhit and Lakhimpur Kheri of Uttar Pradesh. They are

reaching Banke, Nepalganj, Rupandehi, Belhiya, Rautahat, Gaur and Lubini of

Nepal adjoining Uttar Pradesh. As their height and dialect were similar to the

local people, we came to know that Bangladeshis are coming and going to the

Indian Territory on the pretext of working as laborers, taking advantage of the

open border.

Santosh

Tamang of Rupandehi says that till now we were assured about security, but

along with Rohingyas, Bangladeshis are also active in the border area. All of

them are trying to take advantage of the instability in Nepal. They have to be

stopped. Along with Nepal, India will also have to take initiative.

There

has also been a demographic change in the border areas: Ranjit Sah of Hindu

Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS in Nepal) says that earlier the Muslim population in the

border districts was very less, but in the last 10 years, due to infiltration,

their number has increased by about 400 percent. Misuse of Nepali citizenship

is most visible here. This has also led to demographic changes in the border

areas.

Nepalese

outside, outsiders in Nepal: Nepalese youth are coming to India as well as Gulf

countries in search of employment. Meanwhile, Bangladesh and Rohingyas are settling

down in Nepal. Now they have taken up the work of house, plumbing, painting,

electrician, barber and bike repair.

Questions

raised on Islamic Union: The intelligence branch of Nepal Police has also

revealed the granting of Nepali citizenship to Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in a

report submitted to the government. They are mainly entering through

Kakarbhitta border in the eastern part of Nepal connected to West Bengal. The

report accuses the Islamic Association of Nepal of playing a key role in granting

citizenship to the infiltrators. This organization falsely verifies them as

family members of Bangladeshi citizens who have already acquired Nepali

citizenship.

Government

is alert towards border security: Former Nepal Minister of State for Home

Affairs Devendra Raj Kandel said that it is true that there is political

turmoil in Nepal, but the government is vigilant towards the security of the

border. We have been taking action against infiltration from time to time.
