Baramulla, Dec 10 (KINS): In a continued effort to ensure road safety and curb traffic violations, Baramulla Police on Wednesday launched a special drive across the district, issuing 200 challans and collecting fines amounting to Rs 13,000.
The drive was supervised by DSP Traffic Baramulla, Nazir Mujahid, who said the operation targeted key violations that often lead to road accidents, including driving without licences, overloading, and improper height of vehicles.
“Our teams inspected documents of various vehicles, including tippers. The aim is to ensure that people follow all safety norms,” DSP Mujahid told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
He said that 200 vehicles were challaned for different violations, while four vehicles were seized for being driven without valid driving licences.
“We also collected Rs 13,000 as fine during today’s drive. We want to make sure people wear helmets, avoid triple riding, and refrain from using mobile phones while driving,” he added.
Baramulla Police said similar drives will continue to enhance commuter safety and enforce traffic discipline across the district. (KINS
