BCCI holds emergency meeting after Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match suspended due to cross-border tensions

Delhi, 8 May (H.S.): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) convened following the suspension of the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals due to cross-border tensions. Players and spectators were swiftly evacuated, prompting the BCCI to organize a special train to ensure the safety of players, support staff, and broadcast crew.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla emphasized that player safety is the top priority, stating, The match couldn’t have continued tonight because of the situation. Both teams have returned to their hotels, awaiting further instructions from the BCCI regarding the tournament’s future, as panic grips the IPL.

Players had already sensed unease before the game and are uncertain about their departure from the area following the closure of nearby airports.
