Chandigarh, May 20 (H.S.): The Beating Retreat ceremony, which was postponed due to tensions between India and Pakistan, is resuming on Tuesday evening. The Border Security Force (BSF) has finalized the preparations for it. Soldiers from both sides will stand across the closed gates and lower their respective national flags.
Due to the India-Pakistan tension, the BSF had suspended the retreat ceremony on May 7, following a government decision. Now, after conditions between the two countries have normalized, the Beating Retreat ceremony is set to resume from Tuesday evening. This parade is held at the Attari-Wagah, Hussainiwala (Ferozepur), and Sadiqi Border (Fazilka) and has become a daily symbol of cultural and military valor between India and Pakistan.
BSF officials have confirmed the resumption of the retreat, but there is uncertainty regarding the event’s previous format. According to sources, changes have been made to the Beating Retreat. During this time, the gates will not be opened, meaning that the tradition of soldiers from India and Pakistan shaking hands will not take place. Soldiers on both sides will stand across the closed gates and lower their respective national flags.
