Bhaben Choudhary appointed working state president of AAP

Guwahati, 02 March (HS): The Assam unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has appointed its national joint secretary Bhaben Choudhary as the working state president. This decision was taken unanimously in the meeting of the party’s executive committee held on Sunday.

Manoj Dhanwar, who is the permanent state president of the party, is not active due to personal reasons, due to which Choudhary was given the responsibility. Choudhary has been the head of Assam AAP before, but Dhanwar was made the president in September last year.

On taking charge, Choudhary strongly criticized the alleged increasing political violence in the state, suppression of democratic protests and conspiracy to defame opposition leaders and their families. Accusing the BJP government of killing democracy, he said that the people will give a befitting reply to this in the 2026 elections.

He said that the government has completely failed to solve serious problems like inflation, communal remarks, environmental damage caused by deforestation and frequent floods in Assam.

Chaudhary alleged that the BJP is trying to suppress the voice of the people by creating an atmosphere of fear before the 2026 assembly elections.
