Bhubaneswar, 13 April (H.S.): As the capital city marked its 77th Foundation Day with vibrant celebrations, political tensions flared when Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das criticized local MP Aparajita Sarangi for her absence from the official event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Das expressed disappointment over the MP’s non-participation, stating that despite being formally invited, Sarangi chose to attend her party’s training programme in Puri instead.
The Smart City Bhubaneswar is celebrating its 77th Foundation Day today. However, Aparajita Sarangi, who represents the city in the Lok Sabha, is not present on this important occasion, said the Mayor. This is not the first time she has skipped an official function. Every time we invite her, she remains absent. Today was no exception.
Das further alleged that the MP’s priorities lie with her party rather than with the people of her constituency. “She could have easily attended the Foundation Day celebrations before proceeding to Puri. Unfortunately, it appears the city and its people are not her priority,” she remarked.
