Miami, June 19(HS): Real Madrid faced Al Hilal in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, concluding the match in a 1-1 draw after Federico Valverde missed a crucial penalty in injury time. The game occurred at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, with 62,415 fans in attendance, marking Xabi Alonso’s debut as Real Madrid’s new manager. Al Hilal, led by debutant coach Simone Inzaghi, began the game with aggression. Salem Al-Dawsari came close in the 19th minute, and Renan Lodi’s goal was disallowed for offside. Real Madrid found their footing, with Rodrigo’s effort going over the bar before Gonzalo scored in the 34th minute from Rodrigo’s assist, finishing a swift counter-attack. However, a foul by Raúl Asensio led to a penalty for Al Hilal, which Ruben Neves converted, leveling the score at 1-1 in the 41st minute. After halftime, Real Madrid pushed for a second goal; Arda Güler hit the bar, and a header from Gonzalo drew a save from goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. In the dying moments, Valverde’s penalty was saved, securing a valuable point for Al Hilal while highlighting Real Madrid’s need for improvement moving forward.
