Delhi, 12 May (H.S.): In a strategic move to enhance India’s capabilities in quantum-secure communication, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), under the Department of Telecommunications, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Synergy Quantum India Private Limited, a leading deep-tech company specializing in quantum technologies. The MoU aims to establish collaboration in developing Drone-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems, utilizing the decoy-based BB84 protocol with polarization encoding at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 or above. This endeavor supports the national initiative of Atmanirbhar Bharat, focusing on indigenous research and innovation to strengthen emerging telecom technologies in India.

C-DOT and Synergy Quantum will jointly develop optimized quantum communication technologies for drone deployment, pursuing grant applications and disseminating findings through publications and expert events. Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, emphasized the importance of merging public R&D with private innovation to secure a self-reliant digital future. Meanwhile, Mr. Jay Oberoi, CEO of Synergy Quantum, expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to position India as a leader in drone-based quantum secure communications. The MoU signing ceremony included key representatives from both organizations and is expected to pave the way for advanced quantum-safe telecom infrastructure, transforming secure data transmission for defense, emergency response, critical infrastructure, and government communications.
