Canada qualifies for T20 World Cup 2026 in India, Sri Lanka

New Delhi, June 22(HS): The Canada cricket team has qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Their qualification was confirmed after a series of victories, including a decisive win over the Bahamas, where they dismissed their opponents for just 57 runs, aided by Kaleem Sana and Shivam Sharma, who each claimed three wickets. Canada successfully chased the target with only three wickets lost in just 5.3 overs, with Dilpreet Bajwa scoring an impressive 36 off 14 balls. This marks Canada’s fifth consecutive victory in the tournament, having previously defeated Bermuda by 110 runs and the Cayman Islands by 59 runs.

Following these performances, Canada has joined the 10 teams already qualified for the 20-team event, alongside hosts India and Sri Lanka, as well as Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the USA, West Indies, Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan. Seven teams are still to qualify, including two from Europe, two from Africa, and three from Asia-EAP in upcoming tournaments.
