CEC Leh calls on Rijiju, Santosh, Chugh

Jammu, 26 April (H.S.): Chairman/ CEC, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh, Tashi Gyalson called on Union Minister of Parliamentary and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju here, today.

CEC LAHDC, Leh extended a formal invitation to the Union Minister for the unveiling ceremony of the statue of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, (Padma Bhushan )to be held on Monday, 19th May 2025 at Bakula Rinpoche Shradhanjali Park, Leh followed by a special conference to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Mongolia.

The CEC discussed the proposal for establishing a Ladakh Development Finance Corporation and emphasised the need for ensuring equitable access to NMDFC schemes for UT of Ladakh.

He urged the Ministry to earmark a separate allocation of NMDFC funds-both loan and grant-through the J&K and Ladakh Finance Corporation (formerly JKSFC) exclusively for Ladakh, until a dedicated finance corporation is established for the region.

He also raised concern regarding the financial mismanagement within JKSFC and called for a thorough review to safeguard Ladakh’s financial interests. Additionally, he also complimented the Ministry for the Rs. 10 crore NMDFC special package and the ongoing awareness camps, which have brought hope to marginalized areas like Zanskar, Changthang, Drass, Nubra, Kargil and Leh.

Meanwhile, CEC Leh along with executive Councilors, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Ghulam Mehdi, and Stanzin Chosphel, led a delegation of BJP elected Councilors and met B.L. Santosh, BJP national general secretary (Org), at the party Headquarters here, today.

The delegation held discussions on a range of key issues, including strengthening the party organisation in Ladakh, addressing concerns related to gazetted employment opportunities, and other region-specific matters. Later, the delegation also met BJP national general secretary, Tarun Chugh, where they discussed various aspects of Ladakh’s regional development and economic growth.

The delegation also extended a warm invitation to both B.L. Santosh and Tarun Chugh to visit Ladakh for the upcoming unveiling ceremony of the statue of the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche. Additionally, they extended warm gratitude to both the leaders for their continued support to the Union Territory of Ladakh and apprised them of the developmental activities carried out over the past five years.

Councilors who were present during the meeting are Lobzang Sherab, Tsering Sangdup, Karma Namdak, Sonam Norboo, Stanzin Chosphel, Eshey Spalzang, Mirza Hussain, Dr. Morup Dorjey and Thinles Norboo.
