
Bengaluru, 4 May (H.S.): ‘Shabd’, the prominent Hindi literary organization based in Bengaluru, has announced the call for entries for its two annual awards aimed at recognizing outstanding literary contributions and promoting Hindi language. The first award, “Agyeya Shabd Srijan Samman,” offers a prize of one lakh rupees and is conferred upon an esteemed litterateur from across the country. The second award, “Dakshin Bharat Shabd Hindi Sevi Samman,” provides twenty-five thousand rupees to a distinguished Hindi scholar for significant contributions towards the advancement of Hindi literature in South India. This announcement comes from Dr. Shrinarayan Sameer, President of ‘Shabd’, via a press release.
For the “Agyeya Shabd Srijan Samman – 2025,” candidates will be judged based on their literary contributions, with nominations made by notable litterateurs, editors, scholars, and publication houses. The evaluation will focus on works published between 2022 and 2024. Participants must submit their entries including contact details, publication information, and recommendations about the author’s overall contributions in a maximum of 200 words, along with four copies of the published book.
In regards to the “Dakshina Bharat Shabd Hindi Sevi Samman – 2025,” eligible Hindi scholars residing in South India will be considered based on their roles in the development and promotion of Hindi. Evaluation will also rely on recommendations from eminent members of the literary community in South India. All entries are to be submitted by June 30, 2025, to the designated address: President: ‘Shabd’, B – 8 / 403, ShriRam Spandan, Challaghatta, Bangalore – 560037.
Dr. Sameer, the president of the ‘Shabd’ Literary Organization, highlighted the commitment of Bengaluru’s literary community towards ‘Shabd’ as evidenced by the financial support for the Agyeya Shabd Srijan Samman, provided by the renowned social worker and admirer of S H Vatsyayan Agyeya, the Shri Babulal Gupta Foundation. Additionally, the costs associated with the Dakshina Bharat Shabd Hindi Sevi Samman are covered by the prominent Hindi daily, ‘Dakshin Bharat Rashtramat’, which is published in both Bengaluru and Chennai. The remaining expenses are voluntarily supported by the members of ‘Shabd’.
These awards were inaugurated during the historic Silver Jubilee year of the ‘Shabd’ Literary Organization in 2022. Since its establishment on July 13, 1997, ‘Shabd’ has consistently hosted a series of monthly poetry seminars and annual functions. Notably, even during the challenges posed by the Corona pandemic, ‘Shabd’ organized uninterrupted online monthly seminars that featured numerous esteemed poets and writers from India and beyond. This adaptability and commitment exemplify ‘Shabd’s’ dedication to promoting literature and fostering a vibrant literary culture in Bengaluru.
