New Delhi, May 10 (H.S.): The central government has urged citizens to be cautious of the misinformation currently circulating on social media. The government rejected claims on social media about Indian soldiers crying and abandoning their posts amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions, calling them fake. The government stated that reports of around 10 explosions near Srinagar airport and sounds of an explosion being heard at Jaipur airport are completely false. The claim of an Indian post being destroyed is also baseless. Additionally, the assertion that services on the Delhi-Mumbai airline route have been temporarily suspended is untrue. The extension of the shutdown in certain areas of Delhi and Mumbai airports is entirely unfounded.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India has checked the veracity of this content circulating on social media. PIB’s investigation found these claims to be false. PIB has issued an alert regarding an old video of soldiers crying, which is being claimed as footage of Indian soldiers crying and leaving their posts due to the intensified India-Pakistan conflict. PIB’s fact-checking division stated that this video was posted on Instagram on April 27 and has no connection to the Indian Army. The truth is that the video shows students from a private defense coaching institute celebrating their selection into the Indian Army. The young individuals shown in the video became emotionally overwhelmed with joy upon receiving the news of their successful recruitment.
The PIB’s fact-checking branch stated that ‘AJ English’ claimed that around 10 explosions occurred near Srinagar Airport in Jammu and Kashmir. This claim is false. For authentic information, rely only on official sources. Do not fall for these false claims intended to mislead and confuse. According to PIB, a similar claim was made about Jaipur Airport. Jaipur Airport is completely safe. No explosions have occurred there.
The Fact Check team of the Press Information Bureau has also issued an alert regarding a propaganda. The team said that a false claim was made in a social media post stating that an Indian post has been destroyed. This claim is fake. The video in question is old and is not related to any activity following Operation Sindoor. This video was originally uploaded on YouTube on November 15, 2020.
The Fact Check branch also stated that it is being claimed that services on the Delhi-Mumbai airline route are temporarily shut down. This claim is also false. The truth is that the Airports Authority of India has extended the period for temporarily closing 25 segments of air traffic service (ATS) routes within the airspace information regions of Delhi and Mumbai for operational reasons. Experts from PIB’s fact-checking branch have appealed to not fall for such false claims made with the intention to mislead and confuse.
